Core Connection: Live online workshop for Yoga Teachers

Fine tune your understanding of functional core stability, improve your core strength, and better support your students in feeling stronger, more connected and empowered, with less pain and discomfort

What is ‘core stability’?

Is it as simple as “drawing the navel back to the spine”?

Do ‘sit ups’ give you a strong core?

There are a wealth of misconceptions around the subject of core stability, especially in the movement world with outdated cueing being all too common, and many mistaking a firmly-held abdomen for a strong and functional core.

Our core complex is a network of several interconnected, interactive parts; deep and superficial muscles working together as a whole to support functional movement, and fascia playing a key stabilising role. So how can we improve our students’ theoretical and experiential understanding of the ‘core’? What strength practices can we integrate into our classes to support the longevity of our students’ asana practice so it stays healing and doesn’t become harmful?

Do we need more strength and stability in our own bodies as yoga professionals?

This workshop will introduce you to Yogalates and the role of core stability as the bedrock of this practice. We’ll dive into the anatomy of the core and explore specific Yogalates exercises that engage the deep abdominals, spine, hip muscles, glutes and shoulder girdle as a cohesive whole.

This workshop will include a short Yogalates class led by myself, during which you’ll be able to feel these interconnected parts working in harmony, building long, lean muscle tone that radiates from a connected centre.

Learn to…

  • Debunk common misconceptions around core stability

  • Understand the anatomy of the core complex as a cohesive whole

  • Locate key deep core muscles and palpate them on your own body

  • Improve your understanding of pelvic floor functionality (and why gripping often isn’t the answer)

  • Experience true core connection utilising the three Yogalates girdles of stability, deepening your experience of common asana postures

  • Learn FIVE simple strength & stability core exercises to feed into and support your yoga sequencing

This workshop is for you if you wish to…

  • Refine your understanding of core anatomy (spoiler alert: it’s more than just the abs!)

  • Learn to engage your deep centre effectively via Pilates techniques

  • Learn how breath awareness and subtle postural shifts can activate your body’s pressure system, supporting natural core stability

  • Help students locate and engage their deep core, supporting lower back and pelvic health, as well as their yoga practice for years to come

  • Get a feel for Yogalates and why it’s growing in popularity around the world

  • Understand how to effectively work with the pelvic floor (without the need for Kegels!)

This workshop is involves both theory - with a fine tune focus on anatomy, and experiential learning - feeling it in your body.

You will learn specific exercises which you can then incorporate into your own yoga classes.

After training with Beth my Yogalates class became the studio favorite. I have a wait list every week, and if someone cancels their spot is quickly filled. I truly believe that becoming certified in this awesome way of movement has made me the yoga teacher I am.

I have ‘searched’ for the missing link in a recovering postpartum body and Pilates has helped restore my core & brought much awareness to my pelvic floor. Combined with yoga it’s the perfect balance between strength, stretch, and of course, breath. ‘East meets West’… I’m finding Yogalates to be just what I need.

Meet your teacher

My name is Beth and I am London's leading teacher in Solomon Yogalates.

I trained with Louise Solomon (founder of Yogalates) in 2014, receiving a 500 hour qualification in this official blend of Yoga and Pilates. In 2016 I gained my advanced 500 hour Hatha yoga teacher qualification on the foothills of the Himalayas in India, and since then have continued to expand my skillset, learning from esteemed teachers such as Norman Blair, Tiffany Cruikshank, Leslie Kaminoff and Bernie Clark, to name a few.

I am passionate about helping students improve their posture, breathing, strength, flexibility and overall wellbeing through Yogalates.

My belief is that Pilates and resistance training can be of huge benefit to yoga students keen to maintain healthy mobility and a sustainable practice in the long term.

My goal is to share this message with yoga teachers around the world.
