Joining a group class can be an intimidating prospect, particularly for those with limited experience, mobility and/or chronic pain.

However, the positive effects of a regular yoga practice can be felt regardless of age, body type and physical restrictions or disabilities. Everyone can do yoga!

Private tuition can be a helpful starting point for those wanting to make a realistic and joyful shift towards better health, not just physically, but mentally and emotionally too.

Hi, my name is Beth.

Whether you’re keen to improve your posture, breathing habits, relieve pain, gain increased mobility or simply develop a regular home practice unique to your needs, I am dedicated to helping students learn tools to find greater ease of movement, but also freedom from day-to-day stress and anxiety.

Sessions run for 90 minutes, allowing time for us to move through the exercises with care and consideration at a pace that feels good for you.

This may seem long for a class, but in reality the time just flies by!

You have the choice to take sessions in the comfort of your own home (I will travel to you) or in my studio in Fulham (my travel costs and the equipment I provide are included in the overall package cost). 

We focus on whatever needs attention; anything from improving general fitness, strength, tone and flexibility to developing a daily home practice for stress relief and relaxation.

Specific adjustments are offered with a focus on alignment, to develop a safe and personal practice unique to you.

If you are a beginner we will start with the basic principles of Yogalates, establishing a strong and flexible foundation for movement that impacts not just your practice on the yoga mat but your everyday wellbeing, mobility and health.

Posture & mobility

If improving your posture and mobility are top of your list of priorities, you've come to the right place!

As a therapeutics-based exercise system, Yogalates can also be a great aid for those suffering from back pain, due its focus on promoting healthy diaphragmatic breathing, stress relieving practices, the 'neutral spine' concept and joint mobility, not to mention a Pilates inspired emphasis on core stability.  

Students have the option to receive a brief posture assessment at the start of the first session should they wish.

Yin yoga

As well as being a Yogalates teacher, I also offer private Yin yoga sessions upon request.

I have been teaching Yin since 2017, having participated in two immersive teacher trainings with the internationally renowned Yin teacher, Norman Blair.

Yin can be the perfect complement to a more muscular Yogalates practice. Long, slow holds in supported yoga postures (with props) help students to release deeply held tension in particularly tight areas such as the hamstrings, glutes, spine, hips and shoulders.

Yin yoga stimulates deeper connective tissues of the body, such as the fascia, ligaments and tendons, and can be well suited to those with tight muscles and/or restricted mobility.

Yin can also be incredibly beneficial for clearing energy blocks in the body and soothing a busy mind. This practice not only creates space in the physical tissues, but also in the mind, relieving symptoms of stress and anxiety and encouraging a greater presence of mind.

Therefore, Yin can be a helpful introduction for those interested in mindfulness and meditation.

The Buttafly

Working with private clients I often utilise specific yoga props, and one example is 'The Buttafly’; a specialised foam block designed as a therapeutic tool for back care.

This yoga prop was expertly designed by UK based yoga teacher and physiotherapist Louise James, and can be used in a myriad of positions to encourage freedom in the body, healthy joints and correct spinal alignment.

Stress & anxiety

Mindfulness techniques, yogic breathing exercises and restorative postures are wonderful tools to help manage stress and anxiety, restoring a sense of calm and giving you tools to approach everyday challenging situations with confidence and ease.  

Unique to Yogalates, private sessions have a therapeutic focus with mini-massages offered and guided relaxation or yoga nidra (traditional yogic sleep meditation) to conclude each session.

Home or Studio?

You can choose to take your sessions in the comfort of your own home, providing the location is within an eight mile radius of Fulham.

The Yogalates equipment I provide and my travel costs are included in the package price.

You are also welcome to visit my studio in Aspenlea Road, Hammersmith if you prefer.

Sharing private tuition with another person, a friend or family member perhaps, can be a really fun (and cost-effective) option that can help you stay on track with your health and wellness goals.

Three students is the maximum capacity in a private class to ensure that all clients get the individual attention they need.
